Position:Ā Civil Enforcement Officer

Contract Duration:Ā ASAP ā€“ 4 Month Contract, With the possibility of an extension.

Working Hours:Ā 37 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 09:00 AM ā€“ 05:00 PM

Pay Rate:Ā Ā£14.00 per hour (PAYE)

Location: AL3 5EB

Role Overview:

* Patrol streets and car parks.
* CheckĀ parkingĀ meters and car park equipment.
* Report defective signs and road markings.
* CheckĀ parkingĀ tickets and issue Penalty Charge Notices (PCNs)
* Advise the public onĀ parkingĀ regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • To ensure markings and signs of restrictions are of an adequate standard to ensure effective enforcement, recording, and reporting defects as appropriate.
  • To maintain accurate records of enforcement action take
  • To deal with members of the public politely, firmly, and fairly.
  • Always wear the approved uniform on duty and maintain a smart appearance.
  • To operate on a rota system as allocated by theĀ ParkingĀ Services Manager.
  • To use office technology as requested.
  • To advise the public about inquiries concerningĀ parkingĀ matters.
  • Ensure that Corporate and Departmental Health and Safety policies are implemented at all times and raise any concerns regarding their operation, or any other Health and Safety matters, with the appropriate line manager.
  • To carry out other duties as appropriate to the grading of the post as required by management.
  • To carry out all duties and responsibilities by the Councilā€™s corporate procedures on Equal Opportunities and Customer Care.
  • To carry out camera enforcement duties of contraventions using approved CCTV equipment.

Skills and Requirements:

  • City and Guilds Level 2 Award forĀ ParkingĀ Enforcement Officers (or equivalent)
  • Knowledge of current Road Traffic Legislation in respect ofĀ parking.
  • The ability to remain polite with members of the public whilst firmly enforcing waiting and loading regulations and enforcement of permittedĀ parkingĀ places.
  • Good communication skills both written and oral.
  • Understanding of and a commitment to Customer Care.
  • Able to operate a portable computer.
  • Able to work as a member of a team.
  • Able to work on own initiative.
  • Knowledge or willingness to work in an enforcement role.
